Bailey Road Primary & Intermediate School - Honesty, Empathy, Affirmation, Respect, Trust

Bailey Road School Song:

Maungarei (Na Anaru raua ko Aperehama.)

Tu mai ra Maungarei
Hei whakaruruhau
Mo nga mahuri e tupu ake nei e
E whaiwhai haere ana
I te maramatanga
Kia tu maroro ai ki tenei ao

Ko Maungarei tenei
E tu whakaiti atu nei
Kia mua i a koutou i tenei wa
E mihi kau, ake ana
Ki nga reo ki nga mana
Ki te iwi whanui ano hoki

Maungarei ( Mt Wellington) stands before us
Sheltering these growing saplings. ( children)
Who follow in the light (understanding)
That we might stand strong and secure in the world.
We are Maungarei
Standing humbly before you today
Accepting and acknowledging all of the different languages, traditions and cultures and our community as a whole.

A Maori Saying:

Te pikonga o te mahuri, ter te tupu o te rakau.
If a plant gets bent as a sapling, it will not grow straight.

Meaning that children need to be nurtured and protected while young so they grow up strong and secure.
