Bailey Road School is fortunate enough to have a long association with the Royal New Zealand Navy and HMNZS Te Kaha specifically. Officers and other naval ranking personnel visit our school annually and generally each year senior school students visit the Naval Base and are involved with exciting activities with the crew from Te Kaha.
The HMNZS Te Kaha Cup is presented to an intermediate school student at our annual prize-giving. The cup is awarded to recognise 'Excellence in Industry.'
Bailey Road school staff and students were invited to Attend the RNZN Fleet Divisions in mid January.
Our host was MIdshipman Julian Cholmondeley-Smith who organized for our students to navigate Te Kaha into the naval base via the Navy's training computer software, this was followed oby a tour of the ship which is undergoing a major refit at present. We then attended the Fleet Divisions where the Governor General inspected the assembled naval staff.
